What is T-5?
T-5 (Tesamorelin) is a synthetic analog of the human Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH). It is designed to mimic GHRH’s effects by binding to the GHRH receptors in the anterior pituitary gland, stimulating the release of endogenous Growth Hormone (GH), which then causes downstream effects such as increased Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1).
Originally developed to treat visceral adiposity (excess abdominal fat) in certain patients (such as those with HIV-associated lipodystrophy), T-5 is now being researched for broader metabolic effects including fat reduction, improvement in lipid profiles, liver health (fat accumulation in liver), and possibly improvements in aging, cognitive function, and body composition.

Chemical Structure of T-5
-
It is a 44-amino acid polypeptide, a modified form of the native GHRH sequence.
-
It has a chemical formula C₂₂₁H₃₆₆N₇₂O₆₇S₁ (i.e. 221 carbon atoms, 366 hydrogens, 72 nitrogens, 67 oxygens, and 1 sulfur) in the standard molecule.
-
CAS registry and PubChem identifiers are documented: CAS number(s) for tesamorelin base analogs, and PubChem CID ~16137828 for the unmodified sequence.

What Are the Effects of T-5?
Based on clinical and preclinical research, T-5 has shown the following effects:
-
Visceral Fat Reduction: Studies show that T-5 reduces abdominal/visceral fat significantly in populations with excess visceral adiposity (e.g. HIV lipodystrophy).
-
Improved Lipid Profile: Reduction in triglycerides, decrease in ratio of total cholesterol to HDL cholesterol.
-
Liver Fat (Hepatic Steatosis) Improvements: In trials, T-5 has helped reduce liver fat content (nonalcoholic fatty liver) especially in at-risk patients.
-
Glucose and Metabolic Effects: T-5 increases IGF-1, stimulating GH release; in some studies, short-term increases in fasting glucose are seen but often return to baseline over longer treatment. It seems to maintain insulin sensitivity in many tested subjects.
-
Body Composition & Anabolic Effects: Promoting lean mass, reducing fat mass, possible applications in aging or conditions where GH deficiency is a concern.
